Interstate 30 is a major corridor linking Royse City to the rest of Texas, but it is also home to a variety of standout businesses. One such establishment, located off of I-30 Frontage Road, is locally owned and family-operated Palio’s Pizza Café

“Royse City’s Interstate 30 business corridor offers businesses high visibility and a great location that is convenient for customers!” said Charles Houk, Executive Director, Royse City Community Development Corporation. “Companies that choose to locate in the corridor tend to do very well because of the Interstate 30 traffic and the fact that Royse City supports its businesses.”

Palio’s Pizza Café, a homegrown Texas business, was founded in 2001 with ever-expanding locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Each of the restaurants is independently owned and operated.

Palio’s at Royse City opened its doors for business in March 2017 with a commitment to using the freshest ingredients to serve up gourmet pizzas, salads, and pastas at great prices in a family-oriented environment.

Owner, Will, began his career with Palio’s Pizza in 2015 as a dishwasher when he moved from Ohio to Texas. He progressed through the positions of cook, shift leader, and manager until finally moving to Royse City in 2017 to own and open the Royse City location. The restaurant has a spacious indoor area with a semi-private room that can be used for birthday parties, team huddles, or church meetings. There are also outdoor patios. Palio’s prides itself on providing the perfect atmosphere, whether it’s a business lunch, date, or dinner with the family.

Palio’s at Royse City is a family affair. Will, his wife, and three children work in the restaurant. High school students working part-time round out the rest of the workforce. “Employees should be treated as your own family,” said Will. “They represent your business and they are simply a reflection of the owner’s attitude.”

Palio's Pizza Café in Royse City, TXWill notes that Royse City is a good place to do business because it is growing and he has many good connections. “The City has been very supportive to us during the dark times of COVID impact. While we are still recovering from that loss, we’re doing great, even with the current circumstances and shortages.”

Will also notes Royse City is a good place to live because it is a safe place to raise a family and “a good community where the majority of residents know and care for each other.”

Palio’s at Royse City does its part to nurture the community spirit that Will finds so important. This past Valentine’s Day, Palio’s at Royse City provided 100 meals for seniors, all with the simple intent of letting them know that they matter. “When a community supports their businesses, business owners should return this debt back to the community. My main focus is on seniors and those with special needs. They should always feel cared for and remembered.”

Will summed it up, “In a world that is turning harsh on humanity, a small hope can build our spirits back.”
