The Texas Main Street program, originated in 1986, is part of the Texas Historical Commission’s Community Heritage Development Division. There are currently 84 Texas Main Street designated communities throughout the state. Royse City was designated as an official Texas Main Street City in 2007. The district consists, generally, of the commercial district on Elm Street (north of Old Greenville Street) to Church Street. At Main Street, the district boundaries expand east to Josephine Street and west, just passed Houston Street.
In January, The Royse City Main Street program received National Accreditation. This accreditation is awarded to programs for achieving a record of annual progress operating under the Main Street model.
The Royse City, TX Community
Royse City is home to a growing number of young professionals and families. The average age within the city is 32 years old, and the educational attainment is higher than the national average. This has led to a population that is active, educated, and earns around $90,000 per year - far more than the national average. With 15,000 new homes in some stage of development, the city’s growth is expected to continue for some time. As it does, investments are being made in parks and recreation and the local school district.
